The kids sibuk bercakap pasal Earth Hour. I was thinking ayam panggang since Friday morning. Apa connection dia eh? Beats me. The hubs agreed to ayam panggang and beli banyak lilin untuk Earth Hour. We decided to have ayam panggang at our favourite picnic spot. Silapnya, Mummy tak sihat Friday night so tak sempat marinate ayam. Still, we went for the picnic on Saturday!


No, bukan picnic kat laut. Air terjun. It was scorching hot when we arrived and the boys, wanted to go straight into the water walaupun lunch time.

We didnt bring much food. Tapi, cukuplah. I so wish we had ayam panggang!

We went home and rest. Ada yang tak tertidur on the way back pun. Malam tu kita sama-sama countdown with TV3 and power off totally for 2 hours. The first 30 minutes was spent sitting in a circle, citing Asma'ul Husna and a bit of Zikir. Aisya suka sebab banyak candles tiba-tiba. Then after a while, the boys asked to go out, banci rumah mana yang padam lampu. Not many.. They were disappointed. Boleh gitu?

Apa hal? Tiba-tiba je I gatal meng-google and found this. Nostalgialah pulak. Too many fond memories. Of the HM, teachers, friends, kakak koop, pakcik jaga and even the makcik amahs (our green ladies). I can vision muka KD (nama manja our HM) when she beliakkan mata dia and the tick-tocking of her stilettos. The pakcik jaga, itu Bai, yang kerap tidur whenever we passed by the pondok jaga. I remember most of my teachers' face dengan fesyen 80-an tu. Truly, I miss everything about the school, the dorms, classrooms, hall, to just name a few.

Especially now time tengah lapar ni, terbayang nasi ayam. Sanggup sprint out from class the minute bell bunyi sebab taknak queue panjang-panjang, takut drumstick abis. Tapi, if nasib baik, boleh dapat ayam lebih kalau dah last in the queue. Tu yang best makcik-makcik amah kat kitchen yg loaded with food tu!

I'll take you down memory lane one of these days, ok? For now, I'm off to hunt for nasi ayam..

Bliss! Susah nak dapat ambik gambar dia senyum tau!

Tom Yam Campur



Bahan-bahan

  • 1/4 ekor ayam (dipotong kecil)
  • 300 g udang sederhana besar
  • 5 ekor sotong (potong kecil)
  • 2 biji bawang besar (dibelah 4)
  • 3 biji bawang putih (ditumbuk kasar)
  • 15 batang cili padi
  • 1 1/2 inci halia (dititik)
  • 1 inci lengkuas (dititik)
  • 3 batang serai (dititik)
  • 2 kiub tom yam(Knorr)
  • 4 helai daun limau purut
  • 2 keping asam keping
  • 3-4 cawan air
  • garam
  • 1 sudu kecil gula
  • sedikit minyak
  • sayur-sayuran (bunga kobis, jagung muda, tomato,cendawan)
Cara-cara
  1. Panaskan minyak dlm periuk. Tumis bawang besar hingga layu. Masukkan bawang putih, halia dan lengkuas hingga wangi.
  2. Masukkan sotong dan udang. Kacau sebentar. Masukkan ayam.
  3. Masukkan air dan biarkan mendidih. Setelah itu masukkan asam keping, serai, cili padi, kiub tom yam, garam serta gula.
  4. Kemudian masukkan sayur-sayuran. (Janganlah dibiarkan sayur-sayuran tu sampai layu. Agak-agak sedang elok, matikanlah api ye..?)

Spaghetti Bolognese ala Lana


Bahan-bahan

  • 1/2 a packet daging kisar Ramly
  • 1 tin button mushroom (sliced)
  • 1 biji green capsicum (diced)
  • 1 labu bawang besar (diced)
  • 3 ulas bawang putih (cincang kasar)
  • 3 biji tomato sederhana besar (diced)
  • 2 cawan air
  • 1/2 cawan sos cili
  • minyak untuk menumis
  • butter - 25g
  • 1 small packet of mix vegetable
  • 1 sudu besar mustard
  • oregano
  • basil leaves
  • garam secukup rasa
  • Angel hair spaghetti - 1 bungkus
Cara Memasak :

Spaghetti
  1. Didihkan air, masukkan 2 sudu olive oil & sedikit garam sebelum masak spaghetti hingga lembut. Angkat & toskan.
Sos Bolognese
  1. Panaskan periuk, masukkan butter hingga cair dan berbuih. Tumis bawang merah & bawang putih hingga layu. Masukkan daging dan kacau hingga keperangan.
  2. Masukkan air, kacau. Masukkan tomato dan biarkan sehingga mendidih.
  3. Masukkan sos cili, mustard, garam, oregano & basil leaves
  4. Masukkan cendawan, capsicum & mix vegetable
  5. Biarkan mendidih sampai pekat.
  6. Jangan lupa hidangkan dengan parmesan cheese (serbuk)!!


Asam Pedas Ayam




Bahan-bahan

  • 1/2 ekor ayam (di potong-potong)
  • 1 sudu besar asam jawa, di bancuh dgn 1/2 cawan air
  • segenggam daun kesum
  • 2 kuntum bunga kantan (dibelah 2)
  • 3 sudu besar cili kering (yg sudah dikisar)
  • minyak untuk menumis
  • 1 sudu gula
  • garam secukup rasa
  • 2 keping asam keping yang sederhana besar
  • 5 ulas bawang kecil
  • 2 cawan air
Bahan tumbuk
  • 1 inci kunyit hidup
  • 1 inci belacan
  • 1 inci halia
  • 5 ulas bawang putih
  • 1 labu bawang besar
  • 7-8 biji lada hitam
  • 2 biji buah keras
Cara Memasak :
  1. Hiris bawang kecil dan tumis hingga hampir garing. Tumis bahan yang telah dikisar. Campurkan sekali cili kering yg dikisar. Masukkan gula dan garam. Biarkan sehingga pecah minyak.
  2. Kemudian masukkan air dan juga campuran air asam jawa, asam keping dan biarkan mendidih.
  3. Masukkan ayam, daun kesum dan bunga kantan. Biarkan mendidih hingga kuah agak pekat. Boleh juga ditambah tomato, jika suka.

Asam Pedas Ikan Pari




Bahan-bahan

  • 2 ketul besar ikan pari (di potong-potong)
  • 1 sudu besar asam jawa, di bancuh dgn 1/2 cawan air
  • segenggam daun kesum
  • 2 kuntum bunga kantan
  • 3 sudu besar cili kering (yg sudah dikisar)
  • minyak untuk menumis
  • 1 sudu gula
  • garam secukup rasa
  • 2 keping asam keping yang sederhana besar
  • 5 ulas bawang kecil
  • 7-8 biji kacang bendi
  • 2 cawan air
Bahan tumbuk
  • 1 inci kunyit hidup
  • 1 inci belacan
  • 1 inci halia
  • 5 ulas bawang putih
  • 1 labu bawang besar
  • 7-8 biji lada hitam
Cara Memasak :

  1. Hiris bawang kecil dan tumis hingga hampir garing. Tumis bahan yang telah dikisar. Campurkan sekali cili kering yg dikisar. Masukkan gula dan garam. Biarkan sehingga pecah minyak.
  2. Kemudian masukkan air dan juga campuran air asam jawa, asam keping dan biarkan mendidih.
  3. Masukkan ikan, daun kesum dan bunga kantan.
  4. Masukkan kacang bendi apabila ikan empuk. Boleh juga ditambah tomato, jika suka.

Sambal Tempe Ikan Bilis


Bahan-bahan

  • I packet tempe (potong nipis)
  • Segenggam ikan bilis
  • Segenggam kacang tanah
  • 4-5 sudu besar cili giling/cili kering yg diblend
  • 2 ulas bwg putih - blend
  • 1 sudu kecil air asam jawa
  • garam
  • gula
  • 3 sudu besar sos cili
  • 1 labu bawang besar
  • 1 sudu besar kicap pekat manis
Cara-cara
  1. Potong tempe nipis2. Goreng garing. Dah masak ketepikan.
  2. Goreng ikan bilis hingga garing. Dah masak ketepikan.
  3. Goreng kacang tanah. Dah masak ketepikan.
  4. Hiris bawang besar, bila dah hampir garing, masukkan bawang putih.
  5. Tumis cili giling/cili kering, hingga pecah minyak.
  6. Masukkan air asam jawa, kacau. Masukkan garam, gula, sos cili dan kicap pekat manis. Kacau sampai hampir kering.
  7. Masukkan tempe,kacang tanah dan ikan bilis goreng. Kacau rata.
Kena dengan nasi panas ni .. kena pulak hujan ke kat luar, perggghh... Syiok!!

Have you met her?

I went to our usual hang out earlier this month to get our monthly supply of books. I well, sort of bumped into 'her'.

You see, I've heard people talking about her, and there's actually a movie made about her. It just feel like it's only right that I have to check this chick out, just to get to know what those people were actually talking about.

So, I took a peep, flipped one or two pages aaaand, well, I kind of like her. Funny character, very genuine, modest and well, let's just say, familiar.

Haha.. Well, people, meet my new found friend ..


I dah habis baca all 3 books. Need to get more books, maybe of hers. Or, do you have any other suggestions?

It's late, it's not his birthday today but March 10th. He had fun celebrating with his classmates and teachers in school. We again have him cut another cake on Saturday. See, Adly and his cake.. oh, in his pj's.

.. Tiba-tiba kena demam panas!!! Ahahahaha... Sawan bukan sebarang sawan, sawan sebab MU kalah 1-4 semalam!! Abis, mana tak sawan? We planned to do quite a lot of stuffs together today, bermula dari awal pagi, konon nak ke pasarlah, followed by a kenduri, then to a distant cousin's house, bla-di-bla. Elok Liverpool score third goal je, aku pasti harini aku akan dilanda sawan. And yes, sampai sekarang member layan bantal. Mana aku tak sawan!!

I was in the kitchen just a bit after dinner just now. Along came Adly.

Adly : Minum apa tu?
Mummy : Jamu (showed him my half empty cup)
Adly : Busuk (siap dengan muka) Kenapa minum?
Mummy : Nanti Mummy sihat, awet muda. So boleh hidup lama-lama..
Adly : Nanti kalau Mummy mati, Adly rindu Mummy.. (suara dah lain, siap airmata berjurai-jurai)

Dah ke situ? Sensitif lah pulak budak ni..

Inside-Out Cheeseburgers

I foresee that this one is a sure winner with my kids. I'm preparing for the school holidays. Musim-musim hujan ni, sure cepat lapar kan?

Recipe Ingredients
1/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/4 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
1 pound 90%-lean ground beef
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Recipe Directions
1. Preheat grill to medium-high or preheat the broiler.
2. Combine Cheddar and Gruyere in a small bowl.
3. Gently mix beef, Worcestershire, paprika and pepper in a large bowl, preferably with your hands, without overworking. Shape into 8 thin, 4-inch-wide patties. Mound 2 tablespoons of the cheese mixture on each of 4 patties, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Cover each with one of the remaining patties. Crimp and seal the edges closed.
4. To grill: Lightly oil the grill rack (see Tip). Grill the stuffed patties over medium-high heat, about 4 minutes per side for medium-well. (Be sure not to press the burgers as they cook or they'll split open and the cheese will ooze out.) To broil: Cover a broiler pan with foil and coat with cooking spray. Broil the stuffed patties in the upper third of the oven, about 4 minutes per side for medium-well. In either case, let the burgers stand for 5 minutes before serving.

To oil a grill rack: Oil a folded paper towel, hold it with tongs and rub it over the rack. (Do not use cooking spray on a hot grill.)

Health Advantages: low calorie, low carb, low sodium, healthy weight.
